Additionally, the National Academies Climate Crossroads Summit, scheduled for 16 and 17 July 2024, aims to harness knowledge and skills across science, engineering, and medicine to address climate challenges.
The 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29) will convene from 11 to 22 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. This conference includes the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29), the 19th meeting of the COP serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 19), and the sixth meeting of the COP serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 6).
The discussions will revolve around completing the first enhanced transparency framework and the new collective quantified goal on finance, among other matters. A series of high-level political convenings will be hosted to assess barriers to NDC development and enhance international cooperation to stimulate ambition in the next round of nationally determined contributions.
