Just look at stars like George Clooney and John Slattery. Ladies love these handsome guys for their salty locks.
So it’s time to embrace being a silver fox. Here are four ways to make your gray hair work for you.
Bring Out the Best In Your Gray
Men’s grooming expert and salon owner John Allan recommends a brand of shampoo called Shimmer Lights, from Clairol ($7 for 8 ounces).
Don’t mind the low price or the fact that the product is marketed mostly to women. “It makes gray hair shine and look healthy,” Allan says.
Take a Close Look at Your Tresses
Examine the color and sheen of your hair. “When gray hair is not clean, silver, and bright, then add some color,” Allan advises.
Dull, drab gray is not a good look for any man, he says.
Don’t Overdo It
Notice that Allan says “some color”—not, “Dye your hair and eyebrows coal black or egg-yolk blonde.”
A product like Touch of Gray by Just for Men (prices vary, available in drugstores) can conceal some of your gray without making hair your hair look unnatural.
Don’t Grow Out the Gray
Gray hair is often wiry when it grows longer, says Jennifer J. The solution: “Keep your hair short and tight, because it will always look more appropriate and more polished,” she says.
Find a style you like, and then stick to it.
