Stablecoin transfers can look like ordinary digital payments, but a transfer usually cannot be undone once it has been confirmed. Before sending, the practical checks are the recipient address, the selected network, the asset and the amount. A correct-looking recipient name is not a substitute for checking the underlying wallet address.
This guide does not recommend a particular stablecoin, wallet or service. It explains the controls a sender can use before authorizing a transfer and why each one matters.
Confirm the address through a second channel
Copying an address from a message can expose a sender to typos, compromised accounts or clipboard malware. When the amount is meaningful, confirm the address through a second trusted channel and compare the first and last characters. A small test transfer may be useful where the recipient agrees and the network’s costs make it practical.
Network choice is part of the payment
The same asset name can exist on more than one blockchain network. Sender and recipient need to agree on the network, not only the asset. Sending to an unsupported network can create a difficult recovery process or, in some cases, no recovery path at all.
Check the service and its terms
A stablecoin payment can involve a self-custody wallet, an exchange or a payment provider. These setups have different fees, withdrawal limits, verification requirements and customer-support processes. Read the current service terms rather than assuming all stablecoin transfers have the same protections.
Keep account security separate from speed
Fast settlement does not reduce account-security risk. Use unique credentials, enable multi-factor authentication where available, and never provide a recovery phrase or private key to a person claiming to offer support. A legitimate service does not need those secrets to investigate a transaction.
